Code of Ethics

This statement presents the core values of Healers of the Valley members. Values are vital to the integrity of the profession as a whole and members must embrace these values personally and professionally.

Practitioners serve the public interest by acting as responsible professionals for those who engage in the healing arts.

Adhere to the highest standards of accuracy and truth in advancing the interests of those engaged in treatment and in communicating with the public. Members must only offer opinions or services that lie within the member's actual knowledge or competence.

Acquire and responsibly use specialized knowledge and experience. Advance CAM professions through continued professional development, research, and education. Build mutual understanding, credibility, and relationships among a wide array of institutions and audiences.

Provide objective counsel to those we engage in treatment. Members are solely accountable for individual actions.

Be faithful to those who are represented, while honoring an obligation to serve the public interest.

Deal fairly with clients, employers, competitors, peers, vendors, the media, and the general public. Respect all opinions and support the right of free expression. Respect legitimate intellectual property rights, do not plagiarize the work of others, and give credit to the originators of ideas.

Client trust requires appropriate protection of confidential and private information. Protect the privacy rights of clients, organizations, and individuals with whom you engage by safeguarding all confidential information. Know and obey all laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality, including but not limited to proper disposal of sensitive information.

Avoiding real, potential or perceived conflicts of interest builds the trust of clients, employers, and the publics and members will strive to avoid or disclose conflicts of interest both in our businesses and common community of CAM healers.

Complementary and Alternative health professionals shall work constantly to strengthen the public's trust in the profession to build respect and credibility.

Member Code of Ethics Pledge

I pledge:

  • To conduct myself professionally, with truth, accuracy, fairness, and responsibility to the public;
  • To improve my individual competence and advance the knowledge and proficiency of the profession through continuing research and education;
  • And to adhere to the articles of the Member Code of Ethics as set forth for members of Healers of the Valley.

As a member of Healers of the Valley, I agree to abide by the organization's Code of Conduct and Statement of Professional and Ethical values.
